Chełmno – the City of Lovers/ Chełmno – la Ciudad de los Enamorados
Chełmno is a small town located in northern Poland, 40 km from Toruń, near the Vistula river. In 1228 polish duke, Conrad I of Mazovia, invited knights of the Teutonic Orden to Chełmno area and five years later a foundation charter was given to the city. Chełmno has a well-preserved medieval old town with five gothic churches. The main monument of the city is a beautiful renaissance Town Hall in the middle of the Main Square. Chełmno is also famous for the cult of St Valentine, every 14th of February tourists and residents celebrate and participate in the local festives. Chełmno es una pequeña ciudad situada en la parte norte de Polonia, 40 km de Toruń, cerca del río Vístula. En 1228 el duque polaco, Conrado I de Mazovia, invitó a la Orden de los Caballeros Teutones a la área de Chełmno, cinco años después la ciudad recibió el acta de fundación. Chełmno tiene un bien conservado casco antiguo con cinco iglesias góticas. El monumento más valioso es el maravilloso Ayuntamiento renacentista en el centro de la Plaza Mayor. Chełmno es también conocido por el culto de San Valentín, cada 14 de febrero los turistas e habitantes participan en las fiestas locales.
